The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), established in 1921, is a national-level board of education in India for public and private schools. It is controlled and managed by the Government of India. CBSE offers several scholarships to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in its affiliated schools.

Here are some of the scholarships provided:

Board’s Merit Scholarship (BMS)

This scholarship is for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.

Eligibility: Students must have passed Class 10 or 12 Examinations from CBSE and secured at least 85 per cent marks.

Award: Rs 12,000 per annum for both Class 10 and 12 students.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS)

This scheme has been operational since 2008.

Eligibility: Students must have ranked above the 80th percentile in the Class 12 examinations of their respective boards, be enrolled in regular programs (not correspondence or distance courses), belong to a family with an annual income of less than Rs 5 lakh, and not be receiving any other scholarships or fee reimbursements. Diploma candidates are not eligible.

Single Girl Child Scholarship

This scholarship is for single girl child students of Indian nationality studying in CBSE-affiliated schools who have secured 60 per cent marks in the first five subjects of Class 10.

Eligibility: The candidate must be pursuing her education in Class 11 and 12 in CBSE-affiliated schools. The monthly tuition fee should not exceed Rs 1,500 in Class 10, with an increase of no more than 10 percent in Class 11 and 12.
