“What’s going on in LA reminds us that, as citizens, it is crucial to speak out against Trump’s fascist impulses, his rampant corruption, and his egregious violations of our norms and our laws,” Colbert said, then switched gears: “But sometimes, it’s just as important to say: ‘Haha, old man fall down.’”

“Strongman go boom!” Colbert said, then broke out some fascist puns: Benito Whoopsolini, Adolf Tripsler, Joseph Fallin’, and Kim Jong Oops.

“With Trump’s shock troops deployed against our fellow Americans, we can’t focus on trivial things like that,” he said. “But look at his dumb face!”

Colbert zoomed in on Trump’s face as he fell and tried to read the signs hidden in the president’s skin.
